- The revised edition of The Athenian Trireme will be published by
Cambridge University Press in 1998. It will contain a substantial new chapter
by Boris Rankov, covering the limitations of the Olympias experiment,
problems of rowing - especially crew communication - sailing, performance
and the lessons of the seatrials.
- Morrison and Coates: Greek and Roman Oared Warships 399-30 BC
has now
been published by Oxbow, and copies are available at £65, hardback only.
The reprint of Greek Oared Warships is not yet available.
- John Coates has a letter in IJNA 26.1, and an articlein IJNA 25.2 on
shipworm in and the beaching of ancient Mediterranean warships.
- There has been an article on the trireme in Saga Magazine for April 1997 by
Byron Rogers.
