About

UPDATE - I have recently taken up a postion tied between the Departments of Physics and Earth Sciences at the University of Oxford. These pages will be updated shortly.
I am research student working on the Imperial College Ocean Model (ICOM) with the Applied Modelling and Computation Group (AMCG) in the Department of Earth Science and Engineering of Imperial College London.
After receiving an undergraduate degree in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Cambridge in 2000, I stayed on at Cambridge to study for the Certificate of Advanced Study in Mathematics where I pursued my interest in understanding and modelling geophysical phenomena. After completing the course in 2001, I relocated to Japan and worked for the Japanese government under the JET programme.
In May 2004, I joined the Oceanography Group at the Department of Meteorology of the University of Reading. Under the guidance of Professor David Marshall I investigated the resolution of hydrostatic and geostrophic pressure balances in the Imperial College Ocean Model (ICOM).
Since October 2004, I have been working with Prof. Chris Pain and the rest of the Applied Modelling and Computation Group (AMCG) investigating methods of stabilisation for the finite element method appled to fluid flow and radiation transport problems, with the ultimate aim of implementing these techniques in the finite element core of the Imperial College Ocean Model (ICOM).
Further details on these areas of research can be found on the page research interests.
