Saturday, 1500m race
Men's First Eight. Senior 3 Eights.
First round, Eton College (2nd Crew). A bit intimidating. Everyone knows Eton are no slouches. What a race though. We take 2 seats on the start, and another on the stride. A big push round our corner gives us a length. They mount a big push on their corner, half a length in it now. Then it is atatck, counter attack all the way along the straight with us winning by 2/3 of a length in a time of 4:45.Second Round, Furnival Scullers School. They are big lads. Start goes very well, and in 20 strokes or so, we are half a length up. Pushing round our corner, we get up to nearly a length, then round theirs, we hold 2/3 of a length. Along the straight, things go pretty well. Our pushes work well and we seem to be able to dominate the race. A hard race, but a good win of 2/3 of a length in a time of 4:51.
Semi-Final, Pangbourne College. Another schoolboy crew. IT was a nightmare race for us. On the start, they VERY quickly take a length. Where did they get that start from..? We are never in touch again, losing by about 2 lengths in a time of 4:52. We are tired.
Men's Second Eight, Senior 4 Eights.
First Round, Sommerville College, Oxford. A hard first opponent for us. Off the start, they gain half a length, then suddenly we have caught up and overtake them. It seems they have lost a blade and are paddling with 6. Well a win's a win.Second Round, waiting for information.
Sunday, 550m Sprint race
