HOME RESEARCH PUBLICATIONS ABOUT ME

Welcome to my home page!

From November 2004 I've been a post-doc in the Earth Observation Data Group (EODG) at Atmospheric, Oceanic & Planetary Physics, a subdepartment of Physics.
Currently I'm working on volcanic atmospheric emission: So2 and ash. My task is develop an So2 retrieval for GOME-2/IASI data.
The other main interests are aerosol effects, interactions and measurements in all the possible spectral range from UV to IR, using satellite, ground measurements and field campaign data.
I'm involved in aerosol retrieval from MSG SEVIRI, ATSR/2, AATSR satellite data using ORAC algorithm. In particular I'm working on extending the ORAC aerosol retrieval algorithm, for the SEVIRI instrument, using IR channels around 11 and 12um (here) and I'm coordinating the Desert Dust retrieval intercomparison (DRI).
I'm also involved in cloud retrieval from MSG SEVIRI, MIPAS and HIRDLS data.
Go here for more detail about my work and here for my publications.

In June 2004 I passed my viva on my PhD thesis on "Aerosol remote sensing from high resolution nadir satellite spectrometer".
The work described in this thesis was conducted at ISAC-CNR, in the frame of the research activities of Atmospheric Remote Sensing group, and supported by TEMIS.
You can download my thesis here (pdf), see the data here, and find the published algorithm here:

In March 1998 I passed my Degree in Physics.
Thesis title: "Multispectral sun-photometer measurements aimed at the determination of aerosol particles optical properties of continental and maritime origin";
Master thesis (2 years) realized at Fisbat (now ISAC) Institute - C.N.R. Supervisor: C.Tomasi. In the frame of research activities conducted by the Radiation and Climate Effect group.
